Hunza G’s production process begins and ends locally in the UK, amidst a small group of individuals passionate about quality knit fabrics and considered swimwear construction. Our crinkle fabric is knitted in a local mill in the Midlands, dyed thereafter, then processed and dried before being sent to our Central London studio where each garment is cut and made, limiting any possible unnecessary fabric consumption. This is in part to ensure we do our best to decrease overproduction within the fashion industry on both a brand and consumer level. We resourcefully produce small run-off quantities of headbands and scrunchies with small cuttings of excess fabric – reducing wastage and providing a long-lasting alternative.
Our One Size stance is not only an effort to remain an inclusive brand made by women for women, but also lessens chance of over-purchased sizing on a commercial level.
Our small London team is comprised of less than ten individuals, including our head cutter and machinist – a married couple crucial to Hunza’s heritage and succession into Hunza G as we know it. We strive to provide the most considerate and healthy working environment for all members of the team – from production and prep, to Head Office – we share one roof! Fair trade and a consistently positive community are key to providing not only the best end-product for consumers, one we are proud to share, but also showcasing to others that local production is indeed possible and viable.
Hunza G Ltd is a carbon-neutral company. 2020 carbon footprint collated & offset by BeZero Carbon Ltd.
We place huge importance on our community, not only as a London-based brand, but as a force within the industry that can assist in times of need. Many times a year we donate portions of our gross profit to charities such as Street Smart UK, as well as smaller movements supporting sustainable efforts and towards positive causes within our community. This includes producing pieces for raffles, sample sales, donations of profit, charity pieces, and generating digital awareness.
With increased importance placed on localised production and operations, we limit our carbon footprint and commercial output massively. Minimising back and forth production is a prominent focus of ours and we work towards strengthening these efforts regularly. We are not perfect, however we believe it’s the collective shift towards change that makes the biggest impact overall.
Hunza G poly bags are biodegradable, recycled and recyclable – constructed with post-consumer plastic. We operate with a minimal paper printing policy, and ship using DHL Go-Green, which aids in offsetting transit emissions. Our packaging is done as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible, utilising as little space per unit as we can manage.
