Our Story Begins
Hunza was born in London in 1984. Founded by Peter Meadows, it quickly stood out for its innovative, textured fabrics and body-conscious silhouettes that embodied the spirit of the 80s. The brand found a devoted following in women who wanted confidence, ease, and individuality in what they wore - and soon became a staple of the decade’s cultural and fashion moments.
An Icon of the Era
Through the 80s and 90s, Hunza became known for bold colours, cut-out silhouettes, and a sense of fun that felt entirely of the moment. Its most iconic cultural moment came in 1990, when Julia Roberts wore the now-famous Hunza mini dress in Pretty Woman. That one outfit - electric blue and unforgettable - became a symbol of transformation and self-belief.
A New Chapter Begins
In 2015, Georgiana Huddart relaunched the brand as Hunza G, reimagining it for a new era. In partnership with Peter Meadows, she brought back the iconic Original Crinkle™ fabric and infused the brand with a modern perspective rooted in timelessness, simplicity, and inclusivity. Hunza G was born as a celebration of confident femininity - a one-size brand with a singular message: swimwear should make every body feel good.
The Original Crinkle™
At the heart of Hunza G is our proprietary Original Crinkle™ material - a textured, ultra-stretch fabric crafted with over nine million stitches per swimsuit. It sculpts, supports, and adapts to the body, offering a universally flattering fit. This technical innovation allowed Hunza G to do what no brand had done before: make truly one-size-fit swimwear that doesn’t compromise on style, comfort, or performance.
Modern Icons
Since its relaunch, Hunza G has redefined the swimwear category through fabric and product innovation. Our signature silhouettes - minimal, sculpting, and instantly recognisable - have become modern icons in their own right.
